Kathmandu — Sudan Gurung has assumed office as Nepal’s Minister for Home Affairs, taking charge at the Home Ministry in Singha Durbar shortly after being sworn in at the Presidential Residence, Shital Niwas.

Upon assuming office, Gurung said his work would reflect the expectations of the younger generation, particularly aligning with the aspirations of “Gen Z.” He expressed commitment to translating these expectations into policy implementation.

He stated that improving public service delivery would be a key priority, with a focus on making services under the Home Ministry more efficient, accessible and streamlined. Gurung said efforts would be made to introduce a single-window system to ensure citizens can access services without navigating multiple offices.

On governance, he reiterated a zero-tolerance policy toward corruption and said steps would be taken to ensure that VIP movements do not cause inconvenience to the general public.

Gurung also said the government would develop systems to allow citizens to directly communicate grievances, aiming to strengthen responsiveness and accountability. He added that visible reforms would begin within agencies under the Home Ministry.

His appointment signals a focus on service delivery reform, transparency and public accountability within Nepal’s home administration.
