The Nepali Congress has nominated Gajendra Ale as its candidate from Nawalpur Constituency No. 1, a seat previously represented by former party General Secretary Shashank Koirala. Ale is a member of the party’s General Committee and a representative of the general convention.
He has remained actively involved in the party’s organizational work. He previously contested the mayoral election in Gaidakot Municipality but was unsuccessful.
The decision not to nominate Koirala was made by the party’s Parliamentary Board, which was formed following the special general convention and is led by Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa.
