Nepal National Assembly to Debate Finance and Public Debt Bills Today at 1:15 PM

Nepal’s National Assembly meets today to discuss two major economic bills—Finance Bill 2082 and Public Debt Bill 2082—while five key committees hold parallel sessions on legal, social, and infrastructure matters.

KATHMANDU,  — A meeting of the National Assembly is scheduled to convene at 1:15 PM today at the Federal Parliament Building in New Baneshwar. The agenda includes detailed deliberations on two major economic bills considered crucial for the current fiscal year.

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel will present and initiate clause-wise discussions on the Finance Bill 2082 and the Public Debt Bill 2082 during today’s session. These bills were previously endorsed by the House of Representatives and sent to the National Assembly for further consideration.

According to the Federal Parliament Secretariat, following today’s discussions, the bills are expected to be passed and returned to the House of Representatives with recommendations.

Five Parliamentary Committees to Meet Today

In addition to the full session, five standing committees of the National Assembly are also scheduled to hold meetings today.

The Finance Committee will conduct direct dialogue with the proponents of proposed amendments to the Bank and Financial Institutions Act 2073, aiming to shape the future of financial regulation and reform in Nepal.

The International Relations and Tourism Committee will deliberate on the Nepal Civil Aviation Authority Bill 2081, which is expected to have long-term implications for the structure and governance of Nepal’s aviation sector.

Focus on Legal, Social, and Infrastructure Policies

The Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee is set to hold consultations with the Nepal Bar Council regarding the Second Amendment to the Nepal Bar Council Act 2081, focusing on reforms in the legal profession.

The Women and Social Affairs Committee will discuss internal operations and outline its future programs in today’s meeting.

The Infrastructure Development Committee is preparing for in-depth discussions on the Electricity Bill 2080, the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Bill 2081, and the Sunkoshi Marin Diversion Project. These discussions are anticipated to significantly influence Nepal’s future energy and infrastructure policies.

Today’s legislative agenda highlights the National Assembly’s active role in shaping Nepal’s economic, legal, and development framework.
