CPN-UML Chairperson and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli reached Jhapa on Monday ahead of filing his nomination for the House of Representatives election. According to the election schedule, candidates are set to register their nominations on Tuesday, Magh 6.
Oli is preparing to submit his candidacy from Jhapa–5 constituency. Local leaders and party cadres of the CPN-UML welcomed Oli upon his arrival in Jhapa. Party officials say the constituency remains an important electoral battleground for the UML.
Jhapa–5 has attracted significant attention this election, as senior Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) leader and former Kathmandu Metropolitan City mayor Balen Shah is also preparing to contest from the same seat. The possible face-off between two well-known political figures has placed the constituency under national spotlight.
Oli is also scheduled to hold a press conference in the constituency later on Monday, where he is expected to speak about his candidacy and address current political issues.
