Dr. Bhattarai Visits Rabi Lamichhane in Bhairahawa Jail

Dr. Baburam Bhattarai visited RSP President Rabi Lamichhane in Bhairahawa Jail on Thursday. Their meeting focused on democratic values and political reform.

Bhairahawa, Butwal –  Naya Shakti Party (Nespa) leader Dr. Baburam Bhattarai paid a visit to Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane at the Bhairahawa jail on Thursday. Lamichhane is currently in custody, and the two sat down for a conversation about the direction of Nepal’s politics and the growing call for alternative leadership.

“We talked about the path ahead — how alternative political forces can move forward, how we can promote transparency, and how to work toward a more prosperous Nepal,” Bhattarai said after the meeting. He added that the visit came from a place of goodwill, and from his belief in open, democratic dialogue.

On the legal case surrounding Lamichhane, Bhattarai made his position clear. “The court hasn’t delivered a verdict yet. Until then, no one should be labeled guilty,” he said. “And as an elected public representative, I don’t believe he poses any flight risk.”

Bhattarai is currently in Bhairahawa for a two-day training session organized by Nespa’s Lumbini Province committee. He made time during his visit to meet Lamichhane at the jail. Nespa central committee member Pankaj Rai, who was present, confirmed the meeting.
