Ashim Man Basnet, a co-founder of the ride-sharing platform Pathao, has announced his decision to contest the upcoming election from Kathmandu Constituency No. 1. Basnet made the announcement on Sunday through a post on social media, stating that he will run as a candidate from Kathmandu-1.
He said his election campaign will be centered on three key agendas. “If the system is not facilitative, even capable individuals face an uncertain future. I have not entered politics to pursue power, but to take responsibility,” Basnet said. “My first priority is to create a system that supports entrepreneurship and startups, enabling young people to dream in Nepal and turn those dreams into reality.”
His second agenda focuses on accountability. “Those who work must be answerable, and those who make decisions must take responsibility. This is the foundation of good governance,” he said.
As his third priority, Basnet emphasized the need to bridge the gap between experience and the new generation. He said efforts should be made to promote dialogue, mentorship, and collaboration between experienced individuals and young people.
