Arjun Narsingh KC Sworn In as Senior Member of Nepal’s House of Representatives

Arjun Narsingh KC has been sworn in as the senior-most member of Nepal’s House of Representatives and will oversee initial parliamentary proceedings, including administering the oath to newly elected lawmakers.

Kathmandu — Arjun Narsingh KC, the senior-most member of Nepal’s House of Representatives, has taken the oath of office and secrecy. The 78-year-old Nepali Congress lawmaker was sworn in by President Ram Chandra Paudel at Shital Niwas on Wednesday.

KC was elected to the House of Representatives under the proportional representation system. As the senior member, he will administer the oath of office to other newly elected members of the House.

Lawmakers elected in the march 5 polls are scheduled to take their oath on Thursday. Until a Speaker is elected, KC will chair meetings of the House of Representatives and oversee proceedings as the presiding member.
