Abhishek Pratap Sah Questions Probe Into Sudan Gurung Assets
Nepali Congress lawmaker calls for a transparent and independent investigation, warning against political influence in the inquiry process.
Nepali Congress MP Abhishek Pratap Sah has raised serious concerns over the investigation process involving former Home Minister Sudan Gurung, questioning the credibility and transparency of the probe.
Speaking during the emergency hour in the House of Representatives, Sah described Gurung’s property details as “unnatural and suspicious” and urged the government to conduct a fair, transparent, and high-level investigation. He warned that growing public doubts surrounding the commission could weaken trust in state institutions.
According to Sah, discussions are increasing among the public that the commission may be working to protect the former minister rather than ensure accountability. He stressed that no individual holding a powerful public office should be treated as being above the law.
The Nepali Congress lawmaker also called for close monitoring of the commission’s activities, stating that Parliament remains a symbol of public trust and responsibility.
During the parliamentary session, Sah reiterated the need for an independent and influence-free probe into Gurung’s assets. He further cautioned the commission against clearing anyone under political pressure or external influence.
