Balen Shah to Be Sworn In as Nepal’s Prime Minister on March 27
Balen Shah is set to take the oath as Nepal’s Prime Minister on March 27 following RSP’s near two-thirds majority in the February 21 elections.
Kathmandu — Senior leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Balen Shah, is scheduled to take the oath of office as Nepal’s Prime Minister on March 27. The swearing-in ceremony is set for 12:34 PM on Friday, according to party officials.
The event will include traditional religious rituals. Seven conch shells will be blown simultaneously during the ceremony. In addition, 108 Batuks (young Hindu priests) will perform Swasti Vachan, while 16 Buddhist monks will conduct the Ashtamangala Path.
Following the oath-taking, Shah is expected to assume office at 2:15 PM at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar.
The development follows the falgun 21 parliamentary elections, in which the Rastriya Swatantra Party secured a near two-thirds majority in the House of Representatives. The party is preparing to form a single-party government.
