Kathmandu — The Nepal Gen-Z Front has strongly condemned the mistreatment of its coordinator, Rakshya Bam, during a peaceful protest at Maitighar Mandala, calling the incident unacceptable in a democratic society.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Front said the behavior directed at Bam during the demonstration violated constitutional rights, including the freedom of peaceful assembly and expression. It stressed that targeting an individual raising a voice for truth and justice is inconsistent with democratic values.

Gen-Z groups have been staging continuous protests at Maitighar in recent days, demanding the publication of an investigation report into incidents that occurred on Bhadra 23 and 24. The probe committee was led by former Justice Gauri Bahadur Karki.

The Front stated that all participants in the movement—including injured individuals, families of martyrs, activists, and leaders—are part of a shared struggle. It warned that internal conflicts could weaken the movement and emphasized that disagreements should be addressed with the state, not among protesters.

The statement also noted that the state has yet to make the investigation report public, increasing concerns over transparency. It cautioned that misconduct against fellow protesters could undermine the movement’s objectives.

Reaffirming its position, the Nepal Gen-Z Front said such incidents will not weaken its commitment and that it will continue its peaceful movement in pursuit of truth and justice.
