Kathmandu — Nepal’s government formation process has accelerated following the federal parliamentary elections, with the swearing-in date of the new prime minister now finalized.
The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) secured a clear majority by winning 182 seats in the House of Representatives election held on Falgun 21. The party had announced senior leader Balen Shah as its prime ministerial candidate before the election and is now moving ahead to form the government under his leadership.
A meeting of RSP leaders held at the Royal Singi Hotel in Kathmandu finalized the timeline for government formation. The party decided that the prime minister will take the oath of office immediately after the swearing-in of newly elected members of parliament.
The Federal Parliament Secretariat has scheduled the swearing-in of lawmakers at 2:00 p.m. on Chaitra 12. The new prime minister will take the oath of office and secrecy on Chaitra 13.
A senior party leader confirmed that preparations are underway to complete all procedures on schedule, marking Nepal’s transition to a new government under RSP leadership.
