CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has been elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Rukum East, securing 10,240 votes in the parliamentary election.
According to the final vote count, Prachanda won the seat by a clear margin over his closest rivals. Lila Mani Gautam of the CPN-UML finished second with 3,462 votes, while Kusum Devi Thapa of the Nepali Congress received 3,081 votes, placing third in the constituency.
Another candidate, Sandeep Pun of Pralopa, secured 203 votes. With the completion of vote counting, the Office of the Election Officer is preparing to formally announce the final result. Prachanda’s victory ensures his return to the House of Representatives from Rukum East.
Rukum East has long been regarded as a stronghold of the Maoist Centre, where the party has consistently received strong electoral support in previous elections. The latest result continues that trend.
Prachanda is one of Nepal’s most prominent political leaders with a long political career. He has served as prime minister at different times and remains an influential figure in national politics. His victory from Rukum East is expected to reinforce his role in parliamentary politics in the coming period.
