Former President Bhandari to Give Up State Facilities

Former President of Nepal Bidya Devi Bhandari has indicated her decision to give up the state-provided services and privileges she has been receiving since completing her tenure.

Bhandari, who served two terms as head of state, has recently re-entered active politics. A former vice chair of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist), she has renewed her party membership, marking a formal return to the party’s political mainstream.

According to sources close to Bhandari, she has initiated correspondence with the Ministry of Home Affairs to begin the process of withdrawing from the state facilities granted to her as a former president.

Following the completion of her term in office, Bhandari has been residing at her private residence in Bhainsepati, Kathmandu. Her recent actions suggest a full return to political life as an ordinary citizen.
