Khoj Samachar has begun its new public-focused investigation series Janata Sanga Media, and the first episode brings attention to an alleged travel ticket scam affecting Nepali workers in Malaysia. The case highlights how individuals preparing to return home were left stranded at Kuala Lumpur International Airport after discovering their tickets were not valid.

The episode focuses on multiple victims who claim they paid significant amounts to a travel company for flight tickets, only to face serious difficulties at the airport. The situation has raised concerns about travel fraud targeting migrant workers and the lack of verification before purchase.

First Episode Highlights Alleged Malaysia Ticket Scam

The first episode of Janata Sanga Media centers on an alleged scam involving a travel agency operating under the name Air Ban Travels. According to information gathered by Khoj Samachar, the agency was reportedly selling flight tickets to Nepali workers planning to return home from Malaysia.

However, when passengers reached Kuala Lumpur International Airport, they were informed that the tickets they held were not valid. Several individuals were left without confirmed flights, forcing them to make urgent alternative arrangements.

Victims Share Similar Experiences

Multiple individuals working in the same companies reported similar incidents. Among the first identified victims are Bimlesh Mandal and Raj Bashi Raut Kurmi, who had planned a two-month leave.

They had reportedly purchased round-trip tickets on April 24, 2026, for travel from Malaysia to Nepal and return on June 23, 2026. Each ticket cost around 2800 Ringgit, which is approximately NPR 107,000.

Despite assurances from the travel company, they later found that their tickets were not valid. After initial contact, the agency allegedly promised to arrange another flight, but communication stopped soon after. The victims then had to buy new tickets at their own expense to return home.

More Cases Reported with Financial Loss

Khoj Samachar reported that similar cases involve other workers, including Indra Bahadur Rana, Birendra Kumar Yadav, Rup Narayan Kurmi, and Dil Bahadur Budha.

These individuals had purchased four tickets for travel on May 1 from Malaysia to Kathmandu and return on June 30. Each person paid around 1340 Ringgit, totaling approximately 5360 Ringgit.

Like previous cases, they reportedly discovered at the airport that their tickets were not valid. As a result, they also had to arrange alternative travel on their own.

Additional Victims Identify Ticket Irregularities

Other affected individuals include Kishor Rana, Prem Bahadur Khatri, and Krishna Tharu. They had purchased tickets on April 27 for travel scheduled in October and December 2026.

After hearing about similar incidents within their workplace, they chose to verify their tickets in advance. The verification process reportedly confirmed that their tickets were not genuine.

Further cases include Dilip Kumar Kushwaha, who purchased a ticket for May 25 travel, and Anil Kumar Mahat, who had plans for October travel. Both later confirmed that their tickets were not valid after verification.

Another individual, Dhan Bahadur Roka, also reported a similar experience. He had purchased a ticket for May 1 travel and June 30 return but found the ticket to be invalid.

Pattern of Complaints Raises Concern

According to Khoj Samachar, more than 12 individuals have already contacted the team with supporting evidence. The number of affected people is estimated to be higher, suggesting a broader pattern.

  • Multiple victims reported invalid tickets at the airport
  • Payments were made in advance to the travel agency
  • Communication from the agency reportedly stopped after complaints
  • Victims had to purchase new tickets at their own cost

These consistent accounts point to a recurring issue that may require further investigation.

Verification and Reporting Through Janata Sanga Media

The Janata Sanga Media program aims to collect such cases directly from the public and verify them before publication. Khoj Samachar confirmed that victims were contacted through calls and messages, including via WhatsApp groups.

The collected information was reviewed and organized into the first episode to present a structured account of the situation. The goal is to ensure that reported cases are based on evidence and real experiences.

Call for Awareness and Accountability

The report emphasizes the need for individuals to verify travel services before making payments. It also highlights the importance of raising awareness about potential risks faced by migrant workers.

Khoj Samachar has urged concerned authorities to take note of the issue and support affected individuals. The program also encourages the public to report similar cases for further investigation.

As Janata Sanga Media continues, more episodes are expected to focus on real-life issues affecting the public, aiming to bring verified information into wider discussion and promote accountability.
