Kathmandu — Yagyamani Neupane, who was elected to the House of Representatives from Morang Constituency-1 representing the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has resigned from his position as president of the Independent Lawyers’ Forum.
Neupane submitted his resignation to the forum’s executive committee on Monday. He said that after assuming the responsibilities of a Member of Parliament, it would not be appropriate for him to continue serving as the head of the organization.
He stated that he now intends to remain associated with the forum only as an ordinary member and will continue to support the institution by providing advice and experience when necessary.
In the parliamentary election held on Falgun 21, Neupane won the seat after securing 27,367 votes. His main competitor was Shanti Pakhrin Lama of the Shram Sanskriti Party, who received 17,522 votes.
