UML Supporters Protest in Banke, Burn Effigy After K. P. Sharma Oli Arrest

UML supporters staged a protest in Banke, burning an effigy of Home Minister Sudan Gurung and clashing briefly with police following the arrest of K. P. Sharma Oli.

Supporters of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) staged a protest in Banke district on Saturday, opposing the arrest of former Prime Minister and party chairman K. P. Sharma Oli.

The demonstration took place in Nepalgunj and was organized by UML-affiliated mass organizations. During the protest, participants burned an effigy of Home Minister Sudan Gurung.

The rally began from the party office along Pasang Lhamu Road in Nepalgunj and moved toward BP Chowk. Upon reaching the site, protesters burned the effigy and chanted slogans against Home Minister Gurung and Prime Minister Balen Shah.

Protesters also burned tires on the road, disrupting traffic in the area. A brief scuffle occurred between police personnel and UML supporters as authorities attempted to control the situation.

UML Banke has announced that protest programs will continue until the 19th. The protest is part of ongoing demonstrations across the country following Oli’s arrest.
