The Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) has announced a major shift toward modernizing its internal operations by converting its entire membership management system into a fully digital platform.

The decision was discussed during a demonstration meeting held at the party’s central office on Sunday, where senior leaders reviewed the proposed system and its implementation strategy.

The move is seen as a significant step toward improving transparency, efficiency, and coordination within the party. Leaders believe that digitizing the membership process will simplify administrative tasks while strengthening accountability across all levels of the organization.

Plan to Digitize Membership System

During the meeting, the party’s organization department presented a detailed model outlining how the new digital system will function. The proposal includes managing all aspects of membership online, including renewal of existing members, registration of new members, and maintenance of records.

Leaders described the transition as a necessary reform to replace traditional paper-based processes with a more reliable and accessible digital system.

Leadership Highlights Key Benefits

Vice Chairperson Bishnu Paudel, addressing the meeting, said that the online membership renewal system would help make the party more organized and transparent. He noted that adopting digital tools would improve efficiency and reduce delays in administrative work.

According to him, the new system will not only simplify processes but also strengthen internal discipline by maintaining accurate and updated records.

Centralized Data Management System

Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal, who leads the organization department, emphasized that the goal is to build a fully digital and integrated membership system. He explained that the platform will connect all levels of the party—from the central committee down to local ward units—into a single database.

The system will also collect and store detailed biodata of party leaders and members, ensuring better record-keeping and easier access to information when needed.

Nationwide Rollout Across All Units

The party plans to implement the digital system across all seven provinces, districts, and 753 local units at the same time. This nationwide rollout aims to ensure consistency in how membership processes are handled.

While the system will be online-based, local support centers will be available to assist members in completing their registration and renewal processes.

  • Online renewal and registration will be mandatory
  • All records will be stored digitally
  • Local-level support will be provided
  • System will cover all organizational levels

Deadline Set for Membership Renewal

The party is also preparing to enforce a strict deadline for membership renewal. A recent internal meeting proposed setting the end of the current month as the final date for renewing membership.

According to Dhakal, members who do not renew within the given timeframe will automatically be relieved of their responsibilities within the party structure.

Strengthening Internal Organization

The digital membership system is expected to improve overall party management by reducing errors and increasing efficiency. Leaders believe that a centralized database will help in monitoring membership status and ensuring active participation.

This change is also expected to strengthen coordination among different levels of the party, making it easier to manage activities and communication.

Focus on Implementation and Participation

Party leaders have stressed that the success of the new system will depend on effective implementation and cooperation from members. Training and technical support will be essential to help members adapt to the new digital platform.

The shift to a fully digital membership system reflects the party’s broader effort to modernize its structure and improve its functioning in the long term.
