The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has said it is taking seriously the incident in which a four-year-old girl died after being hit by a vehicle used by the party’s candidate in Rautahat Constituency No. 2.
In a statement issued on Friday, RSP General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti said the party was deeply concerned about the death of four-year-old Alfa Khatun in the accident.
“The news of the untimely death of a four-year-old girl after being hit by a vehicle used during the election campaign in Rautahat has left the Rastriya Swatantra Party extremely shocked and saddened,” the statement said.
“At this difficult and mournful moment, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and pay tribute to the deceased child. The party has taken this incident very seriously and is committed to providing full cooperation to the local administration for an objective investigation.”
General Secretary Burlakoti also said the party would take initiatives to ensure the legal process moves forward and that justice is delivered to the victim’s family. He added that efforts are underway to provide relief and assistance to the affected family.
Burlakoti further instructed party candidates to exercise heightened caution while operating vehicles during election activities and to prioritize public safety and security sensitivity.
The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon in Mathiya Tole of Ishanath Municipality–4, where a vehicle belonging to RSP candidate Sheikh Sagir struck the four-year-old girl. Sagir has said that although the vehicle was registered in his name, he was not inside it at the time of the accident.
After the collision, the injured child was taken to Gaur City Hospital in the same vehicle. The driver, 27-year-old Sheikh Mustakh of Paroha Municipality, fled the scene following the accident but was taken into police custody later on Thursday. Police said further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
