Rastriya Swatantra Party Recommends 57 Proportional Representation Candidates to Nepal Election Commission

The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has recommended 57 candidates under Nepal’s proportional representation system and will submit the list to the Election Commission within the official deadline.

Kathmandu — The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has decided to recommend 57 candidates to the Election Commission of Nepal under the proportional representation system for the House of Representatives.

The decision was taken during a meeting of the party’s central secretariat held on Sunday, party spokesperson Manish Jha said. According to Jha, the list includes 48 women and nine men.

Candidates Selected From Inclusive Clusters

The party selected the candidates from constitutionally mandated inclusive clusters. The recommended list includes 17 candidates from the Khas Arya cluster, 16 from the Indigenous Nationalities (Janajati) cluster, eight from the Dalit community, three from the Muslim community, nine from the Madhesi cluster, and four from the Tharu community.

Jha said the party’s central office has assigned a team of staff members and secretariat representatives to submit the list to the Election Commission within the designated deadline.

Names to Be Published After Verification

The RSP said the names included in the submitted list will not be made public immediately. According to the party, the Election Commission will verify and certify the submitted list before officially publishing the names of the recommended candidates.

“Until the Election Commission verifies and formally certifies the names, we consider them only as proposed candidates. Therefore, we will wait for the Election Commission to officially make the names public,” Jha said.

The Election Commission of Nepal had given political parties until Sunday to submit the names of candidates under the proportional representation system for the House of Representatives election. The Rastriya Swatantra Party said it will submit the list within the deadline set by the commission.
