RSP Urges Newly Elected Lawmakers to Uphold Public Trust and Ensure Good Governance

RSP leaders urge newly elected lawmakers to uphold public trust, ensure accountability, and strengthen governance during an orientation program in Lalitpur.

Kathmandu — Deputy Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Dol Prasad Aryal, has urged newly elected lawmakers to fulfill their responsibilities while upholding public trust and expectations.

Speaking at an orientation and introductory program for newly elected members of parliament at the Royal Tulip Hotel in Lalitpur on Tuesday, Aryal said maintaining public confidence is a major challenge in the current political context. He stressed the need for governance and policymaking that deliver tangible results for citizens.

Call for Good Governance and Accountability

Aryal said past political shortcomings and missteps have contributed to the current situation, adding that newly elected representatives now bear the responsibility to correct them. He emphasized the importance of ensuring good governance and taking concrete steps to control corruption.

At the same event, RSP Deputy Chairman Swarnim Wagle said the public mandate should be viewed not only as a political achievement but also as a significant responsibility. He called on lawmakers to implement the party’s commitment to reform and institutional stability, urging them to work with honesty and accountability.

Orientation Focus on Parliamentary Practices

Wagle warned that public trust could erode if expectations are not met and stressed the need for lawmakers to effectively raise public concerns in parliament. He also said members must be prepared to oppose wrongdoing, even within their own government.

RSP General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti said the program was organized to provide lawmakers with orientation on parliamentary practices, legislative procedures, policymaking, and the role of parliamentary committees.

The party said the orientation aims to equip newly elected representatives with the knowledge and skills required to perform their roles effectively in parliament.
