RSP Finalizes Key Cabinet Picks as Nepal Moves Toward Government Formation

Nepal’s Rastriya Swatantra Party has finalized key cabinet positions, with Swarnim Wagle, Shishir Khanal, and Sudan Gurung among top appointments as the new government formation process advances.

Kathmandu — Nepal’s Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has moved closer to forming its new government, with internal discussions narrowing down key cabinet appointments, according to party sources.

Key Cabinet Appointments Finalized

Swarnim Wagle has been selected as Finance Minister, while Shishir Khanal is set to lead the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Biraj Bhakta Shrestha has been chosen for the Energy Ministry, and Sudan Gurung is expected to serve as Home Minister.

Pratibha Rawal is likely to be appointed Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration. Amresh Singh has been selected for the Ministry of Industry, while Sobita Gautam is set to head the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs.

Nisha Mehta is expected to take charge of the Ministry of Health and Drinking Water, and Sunil Lamsal has been chosen for the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport. Sita Wadi is set to oversee the Ministry of Women, Children, and Social Welfare, while Sasmit Pokharel is expected to become Minister for Education, Science, and Technology.

Vikram Timilsina, elected from Nuwakot-1, is likely to be appointed Minister for Communications and Information Technology, while Deepak Sah of Mahottari has been selected for the Ministry of Labour.

Cabinet Formation Process Continues

Party sources said discussions are ongoing regarding the remaining ministerial portfolios, with a full cabinet announcement expected soon. Meanwhile, President Ram Chandra Paudel has appointed Balen Shah as Nepal’s Prime Minister. The cabinet formation process is now expected to proceed in line with constitutional provisions.
