RSP Kathmandu Leader Pranay Shamsher Rana Resigns, Cites Internal Governance Concerns

Pranay Shamsher Rana, a Kathmandu leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, resigned on Thursday, alleging internal governance concerns and financial irregularities in the party’s primary election process.

Kathmandu – Pranay Shamsher Rana, a Kathmandu leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), resigned from the party on Thursday, stepping down from his responsibilities.

In a public statement, Rana said he had consistently advocated for internal democracy, good governance and financial transparency since joining the party. He alleged that the party’s central leadership focused on organizational structures aligned with its own interests instead of strengthening internal democratic practices.

Rana also claimed that financial irregularities occurred during the party’s internal primary election process. He called for greater transparency and accountability regarding the matter and said concerns he raised within the party were not adequately addressed.

He apologized to party members, supporters and well-wishers in Nepal and abroad who may be affected by his decision. Rana stated that his resignation was guided by principles and values rather than personal interest.

The resignation comes amid ongoing internal discussions within the party regarding its organizational structure and processes.
