Madan Krishna Shrestha To Receive Chhinnalata Honour

Chhinnalata Geet Puraskar Guthi also announced awards for lyric writing, music composition and singing this year.

Veteran singer Madan Krishna Shrestha is set to receive a special honour from the Chhinnalata Geet Puraskar Guthi, recognising his long contribution to Nepal’s music scene.

The decision was taken during the organisation’s general assembly chaired by Basudev Tripathi.

Awards Announced In Multiple Categories

The Guthi has also announced this year’s award recipients in lyric writing, music composition and singing categories. According to secretary Dinesh Adhikari, lyricist Navaraj Lamsal, composer Kiran Kandel and singer Bimala Rai will receive awards in their respective fields.

Sarika Ghimire Selected For Young Talent Award

The organisation has also selected Sarika Ghimire for the Popular Young Talent Award this year. She is being honoured for her work in writing, composing and performing the song “Gun Bhulyau, Pittalko Sun Payau Hola…”, which gained wide attention among listeners.

Awards Ceremony On Shrawan 9

The awards and honours will be presented on Shrawan 9, the birth anniversary of late lyricist Ramola Devi Shah ‘Chhinnalata’, who founded the Chhinnalata Geet Puraskar Guthi. The programme is scheduled to take place on the occasion of Harishayani Ekadashi.
