Gen Z Protesters Reach Nepal’s Parliament in New Baneshwor

Nepal’s Generation Z protests escalated as demonstrators marched from Maitighar to New Baneshwor, reaching the parliament building to oppose corruption and social media restrictions.

Kathmandu — Nepal’s Generation Z protests escalated on Tuesday evening as demonstrators reached the parliament building in New Baneshwor, demanding an end to corruption and the lifting of social media restrictions.

The march began at Maitighar, where hundreds of young people gathered with placards and chanted slogans including “End Corruption” and “Protect Freedom of Expression.”

Security forces tried to stop the crowd with water cannons and tear gas after protesters broke through the restricted zone. But demonstrators pushed forward and reached the parliament premises, where some threw bottles and other objects in anger.

Police struggled to contain the rally as protesters continued pressing toward the parliament despite tight security.
