Nepali Congress Leader Deepak Khadka Calls on Party Cadres to Back Tree Symbol During Nomination Process

Former energy minister and Nepali Congress leader Deepak Khadka has called on party leaders and cadres to actively participate in the nomination process, emphasizing support for the party’s traditional tree symbol.

Nepali Congress leader and former energy minister Deepak Khadka has urged party leaders and cadres to actively participate in the candidate nomination process, stressing that there is no alternative to the party’s traditional election symbol, the tree.

Referring to his political journey as one guided by the ideals of late statesman B. P. Koirala, Khadka said he cannot think of—or even imagine—any symbol other than the tree or any flag other than the party’s four-star banner.

In a message posted on social media, Khadka noted that the nomination filing schedule for the general election is set for Magh 6. He called on all party members based in Kathmandu as well as those in Sankhuwasabha district to gather at the Nepali Congress party office in Khandbari at 10 a.m. and take part in the nomination process at the election office.

He also appealed to party leaders and workers to vote for the tree symbol and to encourage others to do the same in the upcoming election. Khadka is considered close to outgoing party president Sher Bahadur Deuba and former general secretary Shashank Koirala.
