Nepali Congress has proposed a schedule for its 15th General Convention, with the process starting in Chaitra and concluding in Bhadra through phased organizational elections.

Kathmandu — Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa on Tuesday presented a proposed schedule for the party’s 15th General Convention during a Central Working Committee meeting.

The proposal outlines that the convention process will begin in Chaitra and conclude by the end of Bhadra, in accordance with the party statute that requires a regular general convention within one year of a special convention. The party had held its special general convention in Poush.

The 14th General Convention of the Nepali Congress was previously held from Mangsir 24 to 28, 2078.

Membership Process

  • Baisakh 1 to end of Baisakh: Renewal and distribution of active memberships
  • By Asar 15: Completion of verification of active memberships by the central committee
  • By end of Asar: Submission of verified membership details to the election committee

Convention Schedule

  • Ward-level conventions (rural/municipal): Shrawan 6
  • Municipality-level conventions: Shrawan 12
  • Provincial Assembly constituency conventions: Shrawan 23
  • House of Representatives constituency conventions: Shrawan 30
  • District conventions: Bhadra 6 and 7
  • Provincial conventions: Bhadra 15 and 16
  • Central General Convention: Bhadra 24 to 26

The proposed timeline sets out a structured process from membership renewal to multi-tiered organizational elections, culminating in the central convention.
