Rain and Thunderstorms Likely Across Several Parts of Nepal
Weather conditions shift under the influence of western disturbances and a low-pressure system near eastern Nepal, with heavy rain possible in some hill districts.
Western disturbances, local wind patterns and a low-pressure system active near eastern Nepal have started affecting weather conditions across the country, bringing cloud cover and rain activity to several regions.
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology said most hilly and Himalayan areas, including Koshi Province, are currently seeing partly to generally cloudy skies. Madhesh Province remains partly cloudy, while weather conditions across most Tarai districts are still largely clear.
Moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning has already been recorded in parts of Gandaki Province and isolated areas of Sudurpashchim Province.
Meteorologists expect cloud cover to increase further through the afternoon in Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. Rainfall is likely in several hilly and mountainous districts of those provinces, while a few Tarai areas could also receive light showers.
There is also a possibility of light snowfall in some high-hill and Himalayan districts of Lumbini and Karnali provinces.
Heavy Rain Warning for Some Hill Districts
The weather office has warned that a few hilly districts of Gandaki Province could witness heavy rainfall later in the day.
At the same time, temperatures are expected to rise in parts of Sudurpashchim and Lumbini provinces, especially in the hills. Heatwave conditions may continue in several Tarai districts as well.
Cloudy Conditions Likely Tonight Too
Cloud cover is expected to persist tonight across Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
Other hilly and Himalayan regions are likely to remain partly cloudy, while most Tarai areas are expected to see mainly fair weather through the night.
