Kathmandu — Nepal’s Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is close to finalizing its cabinet, with Sudan Gurung set to be appointed as Home Minister following internal party consultations.
According to party sources, the decision was reached after discussions among senior leaders, including party chairman Rabi Lamichhane and parliamentary party leader Balen Shah. An official announcement is expected soon.
Gurung is the founding president of the “Hami Nepal” campaign and has been actively involved in the Gen Z movement, where he emerged as one of its prominent figures. His role in the movement has contributed to his growing recognition, particularly among younger voters.
He was elected to the House of Representatives from Gorkha-1 constituency in the recent parliamentary elections. Party leaders cite his organizational role and political engagement as key reasons behind his selection for the Home Ministry.
If appointed, Gurung will oversee Nepal’s internal security, law enforcement, and administrative affairs, placing him in a central position within the new government.
