Nepal Completes Proportional Representation Vote Counting for Falgun 21 Parliamentary Election

The Election Commission of Nepal has completed vote counting under the proportional representation system for the Falgun 21 House of Representatives election, with the Rastriya Swatantra Party leading the tally.

Kathmandu — Vote counting under Nepal’s proportional representation (PR) system for the House of Representatives election held on Falgun 21 has been completed, according to the Election Commission.

Assistant spokesperson of the Election Commission Kul Bahadur GC said the counting process concluded after vote counting in the remaining constituencies, Gorkha-1 and Ilam-1, was finalized.

He said that although the counting process has ended, the submission of official result forms from the offices of respective returning officers to the Election Commission is still ongoing.

With the completion of the proportional representation vote count, the commission has begun preparations to determine the number of seats each political party will receive under the PR system. According to the commission, the process is expected to be finalized within the next few days.

The Election Commission reported that 10,739,115 votes had been counted under the proportional representation system as of 11:00 a.m. today.

Among the counted votes, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) remains in the lead with 5,139,235 votes.

The Nepali Congress has secured 1,749,583 votes, while the CPN-UML has obtained 1,448,854 votes.

Similarly, the Communist Party of Nepal has received 805,773 votes. The Shram Sanskriti Party has secured 378,649 votes, while the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has obtained 329,472 votes.

According to the Election Commission, other political parties are unlikely to cross the required electoral threshold under the proportional representation system.

The commission said the official allocation of seats under the PR system will be announced after the final verification of results and completion of the seat distribution process based on the total votes received by each party.
