Nepal Launches Ayurvedic Swarna Prashan to Boost Child Immunity

Health Minister Pradeep Poudel launches Swarna Prashan drops through Ayurvedic institutions, aiming to strengthen child immunity and development in Nepal.

Kathmandu – Minister for Health and Population Pradeep Poudel has announced the introduction of Ayurvedic Swarna Prashan drops to strengthen children’s immunity. Experts say Swarna Bhasma, when mixed with ghee and honey and given in drop form, not only boosts resistance to illness but also supports children’s physical and mental development.

Minister Poudel, through a ministerial decision, approved guidelines to distribute the drops nationwide to children aged six months to five years. Last year, he had pledged to bring forward such a program to enhance child immunity.

In the first phase, the program will be launched through 25 Ayurvedic health institutions across Nepal, Ministry Spokesperson Dr. Prakash Budhathoki said. He added that the initiative will be expanded to all Ayurvedic institutions next year.

“This is an important step to safeguard public health by promoting and applying indigenous Ayurvedic technology,” Dr. Budhathoki noted. To promote Ayurvedic medicine and treatment methods, Minister Poudel has also arranged for domestic producers to obtain international GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) certification.

This certification, issued by the Department of Drug Administration, will help Ayurvedic producers export medicines abroad and maintain high production standards domestically. The minister’s secretariat further stated that the new budget has introduced a citizen health program to be implemented across all local levels.
