KP Sharma Oli Says Nepal Election Is a Contest Between Nation-Building and Destabilizing Forces

CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli said at a Jhapa rally that Nepal’s upcoming election represents a contest between nation-building and destabilizing forces, highlighting government achievements and raising concerns over alleged election disruption.

Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) (CPN-UML), KP Sharma Oli, has described the upcoming national election as a contest between forces focused on building the country and those seeking to undermine it.

Speaking at an election rally in Jhapa, Oli said the vote carries significant importance for Nepal’s sovereignty, development, and long-term prosperity. He stated that the CPN-UML must secure victory to ensure national stability and continued progress.

Oli also recalled the contributions of senior party leaders, including Haribansh Siwakoti and Dr. K.R. Khambu, describing them as long-time political colleagues. He said the UML has been engaged in political struggle and public service for the past 50 to 60 years and maintained that the country’s future is secure under the party’s leadership.

Concerns Over Alleged Election Disruption

During his address, Oli expressed concern over what he described as attempts to obstruct the electoral process. “Even now, there are efforts to stop the election, but we will not be distracted and will continue preparing for victory,” he said.

He accused opposition parties of burning UML flags and engaging in activities that, according to him, are intended to disturb the election environment. Oli stated that disrespecting the party’s flag amounts to an act against the democratic process.

Government Achievements Highlighted

Oli outlined several initiatives carried out during his leadership in government. He cited progress in the construction of the Hulaki Highway, the increase of the senior citizen allowance to 4,000 rupees, improvements in the literacy rate, and the foundation-laying of 396 basic hospitals across the country.

Responding to criticism directed at him, Oli said he has been targeted because of his commitment to the country and his stance against corruption.

Emphasis on National Unity and Party Appeal

Oli also warned against attempts to divide Nepal along ethnic, religious, or geographic lines. He said he stands firmly against such efforts and pledged to defend national unity. He stated that the UML is not influenced by external forces and declared that not “a single inch” of Nepal’s territory would be compromised.

At the event, Oli welcomed youths who joined the party and invited former members who had left the UML to return.
