FNCCI officials pose ahead of senior vice president and treasurer election
Voting underway for FNCCI’s new leadership team.

The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry is set to elect its new senior vice president and treasurer on Friday, marking the next phase of leadership formation under the organization’s revised statute.

The election comes shortly after the newly elected executive committee formally took shape, with FNCCI President Anjan Shrestha nominating six members to the central executive committee ahead of the voting process. The nominations were endorsed during a central executive committee meeting held Friday morning.

Three members — Manishlal Pradhan from Lalitpur, Nabin Rijal from Morang, and Gokarna Karki from Pokhara — were nominated from the district and municipal category. From the commodity sector, Shiva Prasad Ghimire of the Kattha Producers Association and Darshana Shrestha representing the Federation of Women Entrepreneurs were selected. Sahara Joshi was nominated from the associate category.

FNCCI’s statute allows the president to nominate up to seven members, including at least two women, to the central executive committee. One nomination is still pending.

Friday’s leadership contest is being closely watched within Nepal’s private sector, as the federation remains one of the country’s most influential business institutions, often shaping discussions around investment policy, industrial reform, taxation, and the broader economic climate.

The newly formed leadership team is expected to play a central role at a time when businesses across Nepal are grappling with slowing market activity, investment uncertainty, and growing pressure for policy stability.
