Push to End Political Interference in Sports

The policy emphasizes early talent identification, with plans to integrate sports into school curricula. Regular competitions at school, provincial and national levels are expected to create a stronger pipeline of athletes.

Sports Tourism and Global Positioning Strategy
Nepal aims to promote adventure sports and ultra-marathons, leveraging its geography to attract international attention. The government is also encouraging private sector investment to develop Nepal as a destination for sports tourism.
Hosting regional and international sporting events is part of a broader strategy to use sports as “soft power” to enhance Nepal’s global image and diplomatic engagement.
Athlete Welfare and Professional Growth Prioritized
The commitment also highlights improving athlete welfare, including regular leagues, fair salaries and prize systems to prevent players from leaving the sport. Training systems will be modernized with scientific and technical approaches, while inclusive policies aim to promote women’s participation and broader representation in sports.
