Harka Sampang Criticizes Limited Parliament Speaking Time

MP Harka Sampang demands more time to address national issues in Parliament

Kathmandu — Member of the House of Representatives and Chairperson of the Shram Sanskriti Party, Harka Sampang, has expressed dissatisfaction over being given limited time to speak during the parliamentary meeting.

The House of Representatives is scheduled to meet today at 2 PM, where top leaders are set to address the session. Ahead of the meeting, Sampang shared a post on social media stating that he had received information that only seven minutes would be allocated for speaking. He remarked that instead of just seven minutes, he wished to speak for one hour and seven minutes.

Calls for More Time to Address National Issues

Sampang further stated that he wants to spend more time in Parliament discussing Nepal’s independence, sovereignty, the struggles of the Nepali people, and the aspirations for development. He emphasized that these issues require more detailed and meaningful discussion.

In Parliament, it is common practice to allocate around one hour in total, distributing speaking time among political parties and independent lawmakers based on their representation. During a discussion held by the Federal Parliament Secretariat on Wednesday, Shram Sanskriti Party lawmaker Aren Rai had also raised the issue, calling for more speaking time to be provided.
