Yuvraj Paudel Released on Bail After Arrest Over Alleged Misinformation

Yuvraj Paudel, popularly known as Safal on social media, has been released on bail following his arrest in Kathmandu on allegations of spreading misinformation. Police say the investigation has not yet concluded.

Kathmandu — Yuvraj Paudel, widely known on social media as “Safal,” has been released on bail after being arrested on charges related to the dissemination of alleged misinformation, police said on Wednesday.

The Kathmandu District Police Range confirmed that Paudel was released on bail after completing legal procedures. Police spokesperson DSP Kaushal Budhathoki said the investigation into the case remains ongoing. “Paudel has been released on bail for now, but the investigation has not been concluded,” Budhathoki said.

Paudel was arrested on January 22 after allegedly making derogatory remarks and unverified allegations against Sabita Bhandari. He had publicly claimed that cases were withdrawn in exchange for financial transactions, an allegation authorities have denied.

Following the circulation of those claims on social media, the Office of the Attorney General sent an official letter to Kathmandu police on January 8, requesting legal action. Police initiated an investigation based on the complaint and subsequently took Paudel into custody.
