Vandalism Reported at Kathmandu Residence of RSP Leader Balen Shah

The Kathmandu residence of Rastriya Swatantra Party leader Balen Shah was vandalized overnight, with police investigating possible attempted theft while the house was unoccupied.

The Kathmandu residence of senior leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Balen Shah, was vandalized overnight by an unidentified group, police said. Officials confirmed that damage was found at the main gate of Shah’s house in Kathmandu, where the iron grill had been broken. The incident occurred while the house was unoccupied.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Kaushal Budhathoki of the Kathmandu District Police Range said authorities are considering the possibility of an attempted theft, as no one was staying at the residence at the time. However, police have not received any complaint indicating that items were stolen.

“Because the house was vacant and the gate was damaged, we are investigating it as a possible theft attempt. So far, there has been no report of missing property,” Budhathoki said. Shah is currently campaigning in the Karnali region for the upcoming House of Representatives election, where he is a candidate from Jhapa–5.

Police said an investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances of the incident and identify those responsible.
