Deputy General Secretary of the CPN-UML, Yogesh Bhattarai, has said that the party restructuring agenda raised by his group has received strong public backing and is likely to be formally endorsed within the party in the near future.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Bhattarai said the initiative was taken by setting aside fear and uncertainty during the party’s internal struggle. He urged party members not to be disturbed by ongoing debates and called on them to contribute toward strengthening party unity.
“The issues we have raised have earned support from the hearts of the people and will soon receive approval from within the party organization as well,” he wrote. Bhattarai stated that Nepal as a nation, the Nepali people, democracy, the Constitution, political parties, and individuals alike are currently facing one of the most challenging periods in history.
He emphasized that the current situation requires serious reflection and a responsible political response, adding that patience is essential to finding the right path forward. Recalling discussions held during the CPN-UML’s 11th General Convention, Bhattarai said his group had proposed comprehensive party restructuring and leadership transition as a necessary responsibility.
He noted that the proposal has drawn significant attention from political circles, the media, intellectuals, and the general public. According to Bhattarai, the debate on party restructuring will continue in the coming days, indicating that the issue remains a key subject within Nepal’s political discourse.
