Tanahun to Deploy 2,000 Staff for Nepal House of Representatives Election

Tanahun district will deploy around 2,000 personnel and 2,200 security officers for the House of Representatives election, with voter and polling centre details finalised, officials said.

Tanahun, Nepal — Around 2,000 personnel will be deployed in Tanahun district for Nepal’s House of Representatives election, as election-related human resource management enters its final stage, the District Administration Office said.

Chief District Officer Shivalal Tiwari said government employees have been given first priority for appointment as polling officers and assistant polling officers. Teachers will be mobilised to meet any remaining shortfall in staffing.

A total of 2,200 security personnel will also be deployed across the district to ensure election security. Tanahun has 254,397 registered voters, according to the District Election Office. Of them, 123,491 are men and 130,906 are women. Among the district’s 10 local governments, Byas Municipality has the highest number of voters, while Devghat Rural Municipality has the lowest.

The district is divided into two House of Representatives constituencies. Constituency No. 1 has 136,118 voters, while Constituency No. 2 has 118,279 voters. The Election Office said 144 polling locations and 309 polling centres have been designated across the district.
