RSP Vice-Chair Swarnim Wagle Files Cyber Bureau Complaint Over False Social Media Content

Rastriya Swatantra Party Vice-Chair and Tanahun-1 candidate Swarnim Wagle has approached Nepal Police’s Cyber Bureau, accusing individuals of circulating false and misleading content against him on social media.

The Vice-Chairperson of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and a candidate from Tanahun-1, Swarnim Wagle, has filed a complaint with Nepal Police’s Cyber Bureau, alleging that false and misleading information has been circulated against him on social media.

In the complaint, Wagle has demanded that individuals involved in preparing and disseminating fabricated content be identified and subjected to legal action. He stated that such materials were created and shared with malicious intent to damage his reputation and mislead the public.

Cyber Bureau Superintendent of Police Deepak Raj Awasthi confirmed that a formal complaint has been received from RSP Vice-Chair Wagle.

Allegations of Misinformation and Defamation

According to the complaint, false and deceptive news items were deliberately created and circulated through social media platforms with the intent to defame him and disrupt social harmony. Wagle has urged authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure strict action against those responsible.

The complaint further states that attempts were made to spread misinformation concerning his religion and personal background. Wagle said fake and misleading materials were broadcast across multiple social media platforms.

Call for Investigation and Legal Action

He has also requested that individuals and groups involved in spreading such rumors be identified, investigated, and held accountable under the law.

Wagle specifically mentioned that materials circulated by individuals identifying themselves as Bagmati Province Assembly member Laxmi Ghimire and Mohan Lama Rumba were intended to harm his public image. He stated that the content reflected a clear malicious intent to damage his reputation.
