Sushila Karki Directs Nepali Army to Prevent Lapses in Election Security

Prime Minister and Defence Minister Sushila Karki has directed the Nepali Army to ensure there are no lapses in election security, emphasizing coordination among security agencies and a safe environment for political activities.

Prime Minister Sushila Karki has directed the Nepali Army to ensure that there are no lapses in election security.

Addressing a Pritanapati coordination meeting at Army Headquarters on Tuesday after inaugurating the session, Prime Minister Karki instructed security agencies to avoid repeating past shortcomings in coordination among security bodies.

“If there were weaknesses or gaps in coordination among security mechanisms in the past, those must not be repeated,” Karki said. “Remain vigilant to ensure that there is no failure whatsoever in election security. To conduct this election safely, analyze previous election experiences as well as the various dimensions of the upcoming election, and work in coordination with all security agencies based on security sensitivity to perform duties in an error-free manner.”

Prime Minister Karki said she was fully confident that the Nepali Army would carry out the responsibilities assigned to it to ensure the election is conducted in a safe and secure environment.

She also instructed the Army to coordinate with other agencies to create conditions that allow political activities to be conducted without obstruction.

“I direct you to move forward with a clear action plan, in cooperation with other agencies, to assure the public of security, facilitate and safeguard police operations, and ensure that political activities of all political parties can take place without hindrance,” she said.
