Kathmandu — Nepali Communist Party (UML) leader Surya Thapa has called for a thorough investigation into all individuals mentioned in the recently leaked controversial audio recordings. In a social media statement, he said the resignation of Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Rajkumar Gupta highlights the seriousness of the case and urged for an urgent inquiry.
Thapa raised questions: “Who are all the people whose voices are in the audio? Are the voices genuine or fake?” He emphasized that the relevant state authorities must immediately begin the investigation to find answers.
He stressed that the issue should not be treated as a political attack or character assassination but as a matter to ensure transparency and justice.
Thapa said, “No one involved — brokers, middlemen, corrupt officials, or fraudsters — should be excluded from the investigation.” According to him, this controversy should mark a firm step toward good governance, not be limited to political disputes or accusations. This is necessary to maintain public trust in the political process.
