Kathmandu — Voting that was temporarily halted after a dispute at a polling station in Sindhupalchok has resumed after authorities brought the situation under control.
The incident occurred at the polling center located at Ganesh Secondary School in Thangpal Rural Municipality. According to local officials, voting was briefly suspended after a disagreement arose regarding the voting process of a disabled voter.
The dispute began after allegations that a polling officer allowed another individual to cast a ballot on behalf of the disabled voter against the voter’s expressed intention. The situation created tension at the polling station, leading officials to temporarily stop the voting process.
Security personnel and election officials later intervened and restored order at the polling center. A security officer deployed at the site said voting has now resumed and is continuing normally.
Officials added that security at the polling station has been strengthened to prevent further disruptions, and voters have continued to arrive to exercise their right to vote in Nepal’s ongoing House of Representatives election.
