Kathmandu — Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has unanimously endorsed senior leader Balen Shah as its parliamentary party leader following a central committee meeting held on Thursday.

The meeting took place at the party’s central office in Chahmati, with participation from key leaders including party chairman Rabi Lamichhane. This marked Shah’s first attendance at an RSP central committee meeting.

According to party spokesperson Manish Jha, the proposal to select Shah as parliamentary party leader, put forward by Chairman Lamichhane, was approved unanimously by the central committee. The party is set to formalize the decision during a parliamentary party meeting scheduled later the same day.

Next Steps Toward Government Formation

RSP leaders are preparing to officially elect Shah as parliamentary party leader through the parliamentary meeting. Following this process, he is expected to take the oath of office as Prime Minister on Friday.

The development comes as the party advances internal preparations for leadership selection and government formation after its recent electoral success.
