Rastriya Prajatantra Party Highlights New Political Understanding at International Democracy Union Meeting

The Rastriya Prajatantra Party briefed the International Democracy Union on Nepal’s recent political changes and emphasized the need for a renewed national understanding.

The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has drawn international attention to its proposed new political understanding during a meeting of the International Democracy Union (IDU). RPP Central Committee member Hikmat Jung Karki briefed the IDU executive session on Nepal’s recent political developments and presented the party’s official position.

He also outlined the proposal the RPP submitted to Prime Minister Sushila Karki regarding a renewed national understanding among the monarchy, political parties, and Generation Z representatives.

Karki stated that long-term political stability in Nepal requires a national consensus among the monarchy, political parties, Gen Z representatives, and civil society. He added that the RPP supports full voting rights for Nepalis living abroad, and calls for respect, compensation, treatment, and transparent judicial processes for the martyrs and injured individuals of the Gen Z movement.

The meeting was chaired by former Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper. Former Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, New Zealand Minister Judith Collins, Moldovan Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, and representatives from more than 50 countries took part in the event.
