Rabi Lamichhane Says Two-Thirds Government Possible Ahead of march 5 Election

Rastriya Swatantra Party chairman Rabi Lamichhane has said growing public confidence could lead to a two-thirds or majority government following the march 5 House of Representatives election.

Rastriya Swatantra Party Chairman Rabi Lamichhane has said he believes Nepal is heading toward the formation of a strong and stable government following the upcoming parliamentary election.

Addressing supporters during a campaign event in Rupandehi-1, Lamichhane pushed back against claims that public morale is declining. Instead, he said his interactions with voters suggest a growing sense of confidence and expectation for political change.

“There is a common narrative that people are frustrated and disillusioned,” he said. “But when I engage directly with citizens, what I see is belief—belief that meaningful change is possible.”

Lamichhane stated that current public sentiment could translate into a decisive electoral outcome, potentially resulting in a two-thirds majority government. Even if that threshold is not reached, he said, the formation of a clear majority government now appears within reach.

According to Lamichhane, his visit to Rupandehi was aimed at reinforcing this public confidence and ensuring it does not fade as the election approaches. He also highlighted march 5 as a defining moment for the country.

The House of Representatives election scheduled for that day, he said, carries significance far beyond routine political process. “This election is not just about marking a date on the calendar,” Lamichhane told the gathering. “It represents a turning point that could shape the country’s future direction.”
