Rabi Lamichhane Court Appearance in Fraud Case

RSP chairman records court attendance as Rs 115.69 million fraud case moves forward

Rabi Lamichhane appeared before the Parsa District Court on wednesday to record attendance in the Sano Paila cooperative fraud case, as legal proceedings against the RSP chairman continue to move forward.

Lamichhane personally visited the court to fulfill the required appearance in the ongoing case linked to alleged financial irregularities at a cooperative based in Birgunj. Court officials confirmed that he completed the formalities and returned shortly after. The case has been under review for several months, drawing attention due to the high-profile political figure involved.

The Sano Paila cooperative fraud case centers on claims of significant financial mismanagement. Prosecutors have filed a case demanding compensation amounting to Rs 115.69 million, holding Lamichhane accountable along with others linked to the cooperative. Earlier, ahead of filing his candidacy, he had deposited a bail amount of Rs 10 million and traveled to Chitwan, complying with court requirements.

Speaking briefly to journalists in Simara while en route to Birgunj, Lamichhane addressed broader political questions rather than commenting directly on the case. Responding to queries about his party’s role in government, he reiterated that commitments made to voters must be honored. He emphasized that the government is guided by its public pledges and should deliver accordingly.

Highlighting accountability, Lamichhane said that evaluating the government’s performance lies with civil society and the media. He suggested that public scrutiny plays a crucial role in ensuring that political promises translate into real outcomes. His remarks come at a time when expectations from newer political forces remain high among voters.

The Rabi Lamichhane court appearance underscores the intersection of legal scrutiny and political responsibility. As the case progresses, its outcome could influence both public perception and the party’s position in national politics.
