Prime Minister Sushila Karki is set to hold talks with stakeholders to address problems seen in Nepal’s health insurance program. According to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, the discussion has been scheduled for Wednesday at 1:00 pm at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
Hospitals in various parts of the country have recently begun deciding to suspend services under the health insurance scheme, citing the Health Insurance Board’s failure to release payments for a prolonged period.
Health service providers have said that continued delays in insurance reimbursements have made it difficult to deliver services, manage medicine supplies, and maintain regular operations.
The Health Insurance Board says it has more than NPR 10 billion in outstanding payments to listed health institutions nationwide. The meeting is expected to focus on resolving payment delays and addressing operational challenges within the health insurance system.
