KATHMANDU — CPN (UML) Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali has urged leaders and cadres of the CPN (Unified Socialist) to return to the UML, highlighting the need for unity within the party.
Addressing an extended meeting of the party’s mass organizations in Koshi Province, Gyawali expressed concern over increasing political fragmentation and coalition shifts, calling for coordination-driven politics focused on national interests.
Gyawali criticized attempts to turn the Unified Socialist into a temporary “bus stop” for leaders aiming to merge with the Maoist Centre, warning that such moves could weaken both national cohesion and party integrity. He said current efforts to realign political forces appear motivated by personal ambitions rather than long-term national priorities.
Emphasizing discipline and collective responsibility, Gyawali stated that leadership and policy questions should be resolved through the party’s general convention, which he described as the most legitimate platform for internal decision-making.
Gyawali also voiced concern over threats to national interests and constitutional stability. He urged party members and affiliated organizations to act responsibly against any attempt to undermine social harmony, sovereignty, or national unity. Transparency, legality, and adherence to democratic principles, he said, are essential to strengthen Nepal’s democracy.
His remarks come amid ongoing political realignments and coalition changes across the country. Concluding his address, Gyawali called on all political parties and leaders to pursue peaceful dialogue and uphold democratic processes in leadership and governance. He reaffirmed that the UML prioritizes national security, unity, and institutional stability above all else.
