Prachanda Urges Biplav to Return to Mainstream Communist Politics Ahead of Elections

Nepal Communist Party coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has urged Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ to return to mainstream communist politics, emphasizing unity and warning of political uncertainty as elections approach.

The coordinator of the Nepal Communist Party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has publicly urged Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ to undertake political self-reflection and return to mainstream communist politics.

Speaking at a program where leaders who had broken away from the Biplav-led group were formally welcomed into the party, Prachanda stressed that divisive politics has weakened the communist movement. He remarked that the period following the people’s movement presented a rare historical opportunity for communists, but that opportunity was not fully utilized.

Prachanda said the formation of the Nepal Communist Party was not driven by emotional impulse but by a long-term political vision. He stated that Biplav and his group had been given significant importance during the unification process, but withdrew at the final stage without a substantive reason.

Referring to efforts to advance the Socialist Front as a unified communist force, Prachanda said that both he and Madhav Kumar Nepal had viewed Biplav as a key stakeholder in the process. He added that the door for dialogue and political reunification remains open.

Clarifying that he holds no hostility toward Biplav, Prachanda said the Nepal Communist Party remains the natural political home for the Biplav-led group. He argued that political influence cannot be strengthened by drifting from place to place and emphasized the need to move forward through ideology and organization.

Recalling their long political association, Prachanda said he continues to hold trust and goodwill toward Biplav and encouraged him to engage in timely self-assessment. According to him, the opportunity to unite the communist movement has not yet been completely lost.

Warning on Elections and Political Uncertainty

Addressing the broader political situation, Prachanda said the country has not fully emerged from instability. With elections approaching, he noted that uncertainty remains over what outcomes the polls will deliver, stressing the need for a unified nationwide political campaign.

Warning that continued fragmentation among communist forces could push the country toward another serious political crisis, Prachanda instructed party ranks to remain united and focus collectively on election preparations.
