Prachanda Says He Does Not Want to Be Remembered as a Villain in History

Nepal Communist Party coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ says he does not want to disappear from history as a villain and will continue his political mission until the country is placed on the right course.

Kathmandu — Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, coordinator of the Nepal Communist Party, has said he does not want to disappear into history as a villain and will not rest until the country is placed on the right course.

Commitment to Political Legacy and National Direction

Addressing Gen Z and the nation on Sunday evening, Pushpa Kamal Dahal said that had he stepped away from politics much earlier, the country might have remembered him only as a hero. However, he stressed that he is unwilling to fade into history with a negative legacy and remains committed to his political mission until meaningful change is secured.

“If I had retired long ago, perhaps the country would have remembered me only as a hero. But I do not want to vanish from the pages of history as a villain. I will not take rest until I steer this country in the right direction,” he said.

“How you see me today is your freedom and your right. But the absence of my presence will be felt when you experience the changes I have outlined. I am not ready to give up, because my work is not yet finished.”

Message to Youth, Digital Caution, and Future Vision

Dahal said he remains open to new ideas and is prepared to welcome the younger generation and embrace innovation. At the same time, he cautioned that not everything that appears attractive should be mistaken for genuine value.

“In this digital age, illusions created on social media can mislead you. Do not allow anyone to make you feel small,” he said. He also urged young people to continue questioning authority, saying he is always ready to respond.

He encouraged them to exert more pressure on him, stating that he is prepared to face it because his strength ultimately comes from the people. “Do not stop asking questions. I am ready to answer them. Put more pressure on me—I am prepared to confront it—because I know that you are the source of my strength,” he said.

Dahal further noted that the country does not have the luxury of spending another 20 years testing new leaders through trial and error. Concluding his address, he called for collective efforts to build a Nepal where young people are not forced to seek their future abroad.
